least. Here we have posted the full video of the
memorial service for Bob, his end-of-life tribute that
was held on January 10th, 2010 at East Stroudsburg
University in East Stroudsburg, PA. The Eulogy and
the speeches by friends and family reflect the impact of
his life and the broad inspiration he cultivated in
those people fortunate enough to have been witness to
his quietly understated political, cultural, and
spiritual activism.

Here are some facts and history concerning Bob
Hillman:
Bob was a graduate of the East Stroudsburg High
School class of 1961. He received a Technical Degree
from the Allentown Electronics Training Center and an
Associate's Degree in Digital Electronics from Rider
Technical Institute in Allentown PA. Bob enlisted in the
U.S. Army in 1965 where he served until receiving an
honorable discharge in 1968. He received training in
Communications Security at the Army Signal School, Fort
Monmouth, N J. When his training was completed he was
assigned to General Staff and Embassy Secure Voice
Communications in Saigon Vietnam. He attained the rank
of Specialist E-5 while in Saigon. He completed a one
year tour of duty in Vietnam and returned to the Signal
School at Fort Monmouth, NJ where he was assigned as an
instructor of basic electronics. He was discharged in
February of 1968 and started working for the U.S. Civil
Service at Tobyhanna Army Depot in December of 1968 as
an Electronics Technician. His duties required that he
travel Worldwide to teach the repair and maintenance of
a Government Telecommunications System to Military and
Civilian personnel at Military sites in Europe, Asia and
the United States. He performed these duties for 14
years and was selected for a position in Civilian
Personnel at Tobyhanna. He served the next 18 years as a
Personnel Management Specialist and as Chief of Employee
Relations and Position Classification Division in the
Personnel Directorate. In 1998 he was assigned to the
Command Staff as the Equal Employment Opportunity
Manager for the Depot. He held this position until he
retired in February of 2002.
Bob performed a great deal
of volunteer community service. He served on the Board of Directors
for the Monroe County Cancer Society, Monroe County
Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Monroe County,
Pocono Healthy Community Alliance, Women's resources of
Monroe County, Children and Youth Services of Monroe
County, Monroe 20/20, the Pennsylvania Alliance for Democracy
and was Chairman of the PA Network of Unity Coalitions.
He was the Founder and Chairman of the Unity
Coalition of the Poconos, Vice Chairman of the
Stroudsburg Little Bethel Historical Association, member
of the Monroe County Area Agency on Aging Advisory
Council, Member of the African American Network, and the
Monroe County Branch of the NAACP. Bob was also the
Chairman of the Pennsylvania Human Relations
Commission's Advisory Counsel of Monroe County.
Bob received numerous awards, including the
NAACP's Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award, the East
Stroudsburg University (ESU) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Award, the Pennsylvania State Education Association
Civil Rights Award, the Governor's All-Star Volunteer
Award, the Monroe County Bar Association's Liberty Bell
Award, two Civilian Service Medals, the ESU Alumni
Association Civil Rights Award, The Pennsylvania
Historical Association Civil Rights Award, and was
inducted into the East Stroudsburg Area School District
Hall of Fame as a Meritorious Alumni.
A top public speaker, Bob appeared on many TV and
radio Programs both locally and across the
Commonwealth.
